Ugh, just got a ticket and looking for ideas....

Hi all,

Well it was bound to happen. In my 35 years of riding I've been stopped by law enforcement a few times, but was always let off with a warning. That streak just ended yesterday.

So, like any responsible, mature individual, whose rowdy days of youth are past, and ready to face life lessons and consequences; I need to make sure this doesn't happen again anytime soon and I would regret soiling the reputation of Ducati riders.

I'm looking to you folks for some inspiration on how to mount my Valentine One on my SSS. Alternatively, if someone has had success with another brand of radar detector, I'm open to the idea, but I really like my Valentine One. I use it in my car all the time (suction cup mounted) and I know nearly certainly in this case, had I had it mounted appropriately on the SSS, I wouldn't be posting this whiny request.

I've searched and found some older posts on the topic, but I'm interested if any new ideas have developed especially with regards to the Valentine One. Personally I would like to mount it somehow in the front fairing where it's not particularly visible, but easy enough to put on and remove. I currently have Ducati heated grips so that power supply may not be available to me. I know some people mount the detector to a tank bag, but that adds complexity to fueling up ( remove or fiddle with bag, etc.) , and potentially could block rearward radar detection ( although fairing mount might do the same thing..).

Any fresh year 2020 ideas?!

For some reason those younger LEOs really have it out for older guys on sporty bikes. Not sure why. I like the red paint but boy,it does attract them. Pulled over twice on the SS, one warning and another $300 hit.

That's why we are faster.

We are almost invisible to the LEOs

Ducati was my first love and it will be my last.

And you do have the advantage to touch up your bikes with roll-on flat white latex house paint.

Well played sir.

I have a great waterproof box mounted on my BMW RT with permanent wiring, but so far, Have not found a better place on the SS than the tank bag. Thing is, they work better up high, and that is as high as I can get it. I use a Marc Parnes LED display on the dash.

I could probably mount that box under the fairing, but then it would be very low, and since I only own 1 V1, getting it in and out would be a huge pain.

Where did you get popped? CHP is getting trickier, they tend to turn the radar on and off as they drive, so I slow if I get a hint of a signal.

if you use a Sena headset you can get audio by using a coiled flexible cable with Male2.0 - mail1.2 jacks. I use a standard mail to female short cable which is secured in a perfect spot forward on the R/H side of the tank. I then have a cable that plugs into my Sena on my helmet. It works perfectly and does not get in the way and when you get off the bike you just pull the plug out of the Female jack and the cable is still on the helmet.

PS the new systems Bluetooth to your phone now.

If you guys do some research you will find that they have moved mainly to Laser detection again with the introduction of new systems that can capture the speed and registration of 5 vehicles simultaneously over 4 lanes in both directions. here in Australia the vehicles equipped with this system just drives around capturing Data and periodically goes back to the depot to download. I am told that they have live Realtime download in the USA.
its a more efficient system for revenue rising.
