Howdy y'all from Tennessee... Looking at a SSS

Hoping I can post a question or two if I introduce myself. 55 y/o and feeling the need for speed; recent divorce shattered my Lamborghini Murcielago purchase. I've always been in awe of Ducatis, coming from an Alfa Romeo background (and seeing the Ducs at our Tennessee Italian Vehicle Lover club meets. Now I'm lusting after a Supersport S in Star White Silk (I think, gotta see / ride one in person just to be sure)...
Any helpful input is appreciated!

Ciao fer now,
Tom

edit:

After rereading the "Please Read", above, I need to add that I haven't had a Ducati yet; I had a 1981 Seca 400 and an '83 Seca 750, and time-shared a couple dirt bikes and a 1949 BMW of dubious heritage. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away (Kentucky, college daze).
Also, per the welcome instructions, I shall describe myself. 6' tall, 222 pounds (15.8571 stone, for you UK wankers); Caucasian of Italian and British descent. Smart, good looking, funny as the dickens, but most of all, I am modest. Also, I am honest, and I don't smoke, drink, or swear...

God dammit, I left my cigarettes at the bar!!

Awesome intro and I believe that fellow member @se7en is also from the Volunteer State (Knoxville if I remember correctly).

Welcome to the site. Feel free to look around and gather all the info you need. There are lots here to read through.

Remember, search first, then ask questions if you can't find what you're looking for. Good luck.

You are an Alfa guy? vintage or new stuff? I had one of the 4C's and it was a blast.

No worries on the Murci. I went Gallardo->Murci->Aventador. In increasing levels of pain. I am told the Huracan is the sweet spot between driveability and reliability.

Yup, I have been; and I've sorta stalked you since you're a fellow Tennessean!

"Increasing levels of pain", haha! That "pain" - read "potential maintenance costs", were the main thing that made it take so long shopping, and ultimately I waited too long since Murci values (especially the manuals, which I wanted) started their quick upward trend. But that V12 though! Puts it in perspective that the cost of one periodic maintenance is about the same as the cost of a new SSS!

Thanks for making me feel a tiny bit better about my lack of Lambo...

As for Alfas, I only have had one, an '87 Milano; had it since 1994. The Italian car community appeals to me; just unpretentious, good guys (um, cough, with the possible exception of some of the Ferrari tribe)... Autocrossed it a while and it was my DD. Now I'm into Audis (two 2004 A8Ls) and have done a lot of mechanical work on the two I had, and that Audi/Lambo connection was another reason I thought that an Audi-era Lambo was a good idea. Surprisingly easy to work on and many shared parts. I have the software (VCDS) and that is a necessity!

I really like what I'm seeing on this forum in regards to personalities. Well-spoken members with a sense of humor, and when someone says "I put an exhaust on it ", or "I changed the timing belts", they mean that they personally did the work, not the dealer. Looking at you, BMW and Porsche forum guys!!

I have one real dilemma, though - which IS the fastest color? Off to search, I guess!
