Did he consider other bikes before deciding on the XR?

XR seems a very good buy. To improve looks, Id have add cafe type mirrors.

Wow, very impressive specs. The R just needs some fairings and it would tempt me... The dash connectivity with smartphone app is very cool. Electronic suspension option also nice. I would definitely give one a test ride in the spring. Our SS kills it on looks but the specs and options give it some points for sure.

And change that huge exhaust I'd say. 🙂

I like the tech in those bikes, but I wouldn't trade my SS for those
Grossi.BP likes this.

Ducati SSS 2017 - Loving it!
Harley Davidson Forty Eight 1200 2018 - Loved the looks, hated everything else. Traded in for the SSS
Ducati Monster S4R 2005 - My love and pride. Unfortunately sold for HD
Suzuki Bandit 650 2007 - Great "starter" bike sold

A bit more, including specs...

Surprised the wheelbase is so long...and tank small at least with the R version.

Complicated situation. Rick used to ride a Ducati SS 1000, but he now has MS, so his leg strength is gone. He's been riding a Can-Am trike for the part few years, but hates it, as it feels nothing like a motorcycle. He looked at the Yamaha Niken, but those won't lock into an upright position at rest like he needs. He found a company called LegUp, who makes outriggers which attach to the motorcycle and will deploy and retract as the bike comes to a stop. The BMW is the closest thing he's found that will work with the LegUp system, so that's what he's going to go with.

@rz33v4 Thats really great that your brother found what sounds like a perfect solution that will work well for him! Im sure the BMW will be a lot more fun than a trike!
