akrapovic exhaust Slipon

Is there any noticeable difference in sound and performance for the slip ons vs stock ? While the stock cans are good my curiosity is calling. I'm thinking either Akrapovic slip on or waitin. For the SC project slip on system.

Cheers

I've been told that the sound difference is negligible, it's mainly the looks that are improved. I'm waiting to see what SC Projects come up with and I've also heard that Termignoni are intending to come up with something. Might be worth the wait
Definitively, to change radically the sound of our Ducat ', it's necessary to remove the box " trap in sounds " who is a pre-silencer, upstream to the final silencer. Either the by replacing by a tube, or by a line but on one side we lose the guarantee of engine Ducati, and we are no pleased Euro4, of the other one, we are no pleased Euro 4. In France, it's 1500 € with obligation to back at the standard, and until immobilization of the motorcycle.
It is really worth the disproportionate risk with regard compared with the enjoyment ?

Here in U.K. Not really had an issue like that to be honest, had a Ducati monster 800 with full termi kit which was loud as f!ck still no issues. It's not really the issue for me, I was simply seeing if the Ducati option exhaust was worth it or I will wait for the options coming up from termi and sc project.

Second thought any ideas on release dates for the aftermarket cans ?
I think many people are waiting. As other people have pointed out the slip-ons are more cosmetic than performance based. If a vendor does produce a cat replacement exhaust system, they are going to make a ton of money.

Change in looks only with a very minor change in sound but only at the higher rev range and no performance increase at all. Definitely NOT worth the price. WAAAAAY overpriced.

As others have said, the real silencer is the cat. So, until that is removed, nothing will change except looks. And there will be better looks for a helluva lot cheaper once the aftermarket vendors come out with their offerings. Screw Akra and Ducati and shame on them for attempting to rip us off!

Can you tell I'm a little bitter...lol. :wink2:

Haha na not bitter at all. I do agree though I couldn't believe the prices especially when they taking a ton of money for the bike too.

Think I will wait until the aftermarket offerings catch up etc. Not into shelling out £900 for cosmetic looks :)

The Akra slip-on may be slightly louder than stock, but certainly hardly negligible. It weighs about half the original cans and certainly looks far better. Supposedly there is a slight performance increase, but my S hasn't been on a dyno to verify. It's up to each individual as to whether or not the price is worth it, or not. I will say that everyone who looks at my S invariably comments on the slip on. The Harley guys all ask, "Is it loud enough?"

Just installed the Akrapovic SlipOn. The look is amazing!
The sound isn't a lot louder than stock as expected. It's deeper. The popping/burps are actually a little louder on the stock.
I did the same upgrade with my last bike VFR800F. That Akra slipon got a deeper than stock. And after a while the sound after got even deeper.
Wonder if anything changes on this slipon after some usage. Guess time will show.
Anyway, I think it's expensive but I really like how the bike looks with this slipon. (got a deal and paid 922$)

Made a video. Just remember the sound is from a GoPro camera so the quality is just ok.

Taking off 0-150 km/h around 7,500 rpm, The slip-on has more of a superbike higher pitch sound and I find to be a drastic inprovement. It doesn't rattle and it's easier to discern the rpm without looking at panel. I Installed it right around 500 miles. I have heard the akrapovic full system with db killers removed in person and it was not for me. Has anyone dynoed to see if there is a difference in power? Don't suppose there is one. If termignoni puts out an exhaust that boosts the up by 15hp and is more aesthetically pleasing than akra-full, I could see myself doing a swap.

I doubt 15hp improvement will be achieved with any exhaust. Further to that where would you want the hp improvement. Having it at the top rpm range is fairly useless unless you are riding at 9500rpm continuously. You can get 9hp and 11nm between 3500 and 9000 rpm. That's where most people will make the best use of it.

Agree. A 15HP increase would represent roughly a ~14% increase from stock. I think that's about double what you can realistically expect.

On a BMW R1200RS a full Akrapovic cat free system added 5bhp to the 125 standard output.

Nice video. Shows exactly what I found. Virtually no change in volume from stock to Akra. Ah well. it does look better.

This tread now has me rethinking the slip-ons. If the full system was like the Panigale - it would already be installed.
The cat is the silencer, those two tubes are to replicate a would be silencer.
I was fine with my stock exhaust until your dumb video. Now I have to go get those slip-ons. Curses upon you!!

Likewise. I just picked up a pair in Aus - 35% off.
