Bike seems to be vibrating or bogging down tonight more than normal

Bike has just passed 3200kms. Tonight I was out for a ride and it seems more "buzzy" and vibrating more than it normally would. Usually if I am pulling between 3000 - 4400 rpm you get a bit of that but tonight it seemed even to be doing around 5000rpm. Almost felt a bit choked too and like it wasn't quite working like it was.

Anyone have any ideas of what might be going on?

Also... when I have the bike running.. should I still be seeing oil in the oil level glass? On my BMW when the engine is running you don't see the oil in the glass so I just wasn't sure.

I wonder if you picked up some bad gas. On the bike that is.

ha ha ha

Same tank of gas as the past 2 days and it was fine yesterday and most of today. Just seemed tonight when I went out it was just vibrating worse and just feels "wrong" somehow. Maybe I'm just losing it! But usually at 5000rpm it's pretty smooth but tonight it was not.
You shouldn't be able to see oil sitting stationary in the sight glass if the engine is running. If that's happening it might be best to check the oil pump operation. Was your bike running hot?
Could be the air temperature too, was there any dramatic increase in temperature. Other than that get a DDA to OBD converter from lonelec in the uk. and an obd reader then you can diagnose your errors and clear them if you need to.
This cable is reliable, I have one and most of the ducati world know the quality of the supplier.

hmmm.. weird! It doesn't seem to run hot.. I mean.. on a really warm afternoon sitting in traffic it does get to 105 degrees but the fan comes on. I do find it sounds funny. Like the engine sounds like something is loose or something.

I'll take a video and post.

I did an oil change/cleaned the filter mesh at 1000 kms... but it's going in for an official service on Wednesday. My Ducati dealership is an 1.5 hours away.

Kind of nervous driving it there if something is wrong.
Ok... did a video and maybe let me know if this sounds normal to you guys! Sounds chunky or rattling..

Sounds like you have some metallic clanking in the background like I used to have on my dry clutch on the Multi when it was in neutral. It was a normal sound for the dry clutch, but not for this bike. I don't recall hearing that on my SS.
Hey, it's your bike, you know how it feels and sounds. If it's different don't try and get it diagnosed on here get it to a dealer before you do any damage.
Maybe the valves? One of the guys on here posted something about it sounding like he had an elf in his engine working a foot-pedal operated sewing machine. I agree, though. If in doubt, have it checked out.
Get it to the dealer if you can. I'd guess that one of the desmodromic valve clearances is out of adjustment. If you're worried about riding it there how about you pop it on a trailer? - Good Luck, I hope it's nothing too serious

I wouldn't be. It's under warranty. The long ride may help the symptom reveal itself more, making it easier to diagnose. Just have a ride available, in case.

usually the loudest mechanical noise on the right is the straight cut oil pump gears and they are loudest when the engine is cold, because some of the clearance is taken up as the gears expand when hot they get quieter.
if the bike seems to be lacking power check that the exhaust valve is opening.
on my monster the valve goes zipzip just after the ignition is turned on to do its self test ,dont know if the ss does this because its been deleted since new on my bike some one else here can tell us if it does the self test noise.

Yes, servo makes a noise with ignition on.
Hi dude, mine sounds exactly that way: some mechanical rattling by the right side of the bike.
Do you know what the noise finally come from?

Regards

Hmmm so you missed your 1000k inspection from the dealer and will be at nearly 4000k when they do their check. I always class this 1st service as a check over so that if something wasn't tightened or done up by the factory they usually catch it then and your non the wiser. I'm sure that its nothing serious and after your Official Service they will reset all those gremlins and you will be away burning rubber. Unless you been Fcuking with Karma then your ECU if cactus and your probably gonna be bitten by the Nova Scotia Brown Recluse Spider. you may or may not loose your ears ?

Did you ever figure out what caused the issue

No, I think it's just the way the bike is... ha ha I'm used to CBR's and BMW's and they are so smooth! It's been into service a few times and they don't see any issues even after a test drive. They just say they like to be driven over 5000 rpm and don't smooth out until then.

We'll see how it goes this summer!
