Most likely brake dust. I have a red bike, my black wheels don't show it.
It will be brake dust, it's always a proverbial pain, and it does show up on the red rimsHi. I have noticed a black dust or sooth-like around the rim of the rear tire. It seems to be most prevalent on the left side.
I wonder if it is coming from the chain (lack of lubrication=fry o-rings?) or from the disc break pads?
Anybody has encountered this phenomena?
thanks

Yeah but it beats jumping off :laugh:Solution : don't brake !
Braking is for cowards !
;-)
bet it smells great too>Yup. Brake dust.
I keep one of these in the garage at all times just for that reason...

Works on my vehicles, too.
I'll be sure and stock up on Swifter refills...:grin2:My previous ST4s had red wheels. They look great when they are clean, but get ready to spend a lot of time cleaning them because they show everything, brake dust, chain lube, road grime, squirrel guts and the like.
