Broken fairing...

Before I got the bike I saw in reviews people pointing out the fairing on the shifter side came way out and could be broken off. Well I might be the first to have done that. Of course it's not covered under the warranty and a new fairing is 430usd. Take this as a warning be very careful with down shifts.

****, so your toe caught it on a downshift and bike off the tip? thanks for heads up.
Yea sorry to hear that mate
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for heads up. I think it would be much cheaper to fix it. I know shop that fixed my fairing on 848 and looked as new.

Google plastic weld. There's a great american product available, JR Weld or something like that.

I thought about trying to fix it however I'd hate to go through all the effort just to break it again.
Ducati must be getting their fairings from Ebay.

Hopefully Chinese knockoffs are developed soon and are better quality. And, hopefully they match in color. Red and white can be difficult to match.
Its odd to see them break during downshifting. Did you accidentally move your foot to far forward?
If you replace the faring might you break it again? Would it be worth the effort of trimming off the pointy bit near the gear shift and then repairing it yourself? Nothing to lose if you're thinking of buying a new panel anyway. But thanks for the warning. It was also picked up as a possibility in some online reviews.

I had a look yesterday after your post and now I can see how easy this could happen. Luckily I ride on the ball of my foot which keeps my foot back but I do sometimes change to flat foot on longer rides just for a change which means that it could happen to me too( 6ft 3 = larger foot ) I also think that the bike would look just as good if the fairing didn't go that far back. Have you tried to see if Ducati would help with a new Fairing. I would be suggesting that the 2019 model would probably come out with a shorter fairing at that point.
I had a similar problem, but I've been lucky, nothing broken. I found the lower part of the faring was above the upper one, the was a 1 or 2cm gap between the 2 faring parts. I had to push the lower one so it can go back to its original position.
Well... I don't know it my story is clear... I should have take pictures.
