Emblem under the windscreen

About day 3 I noticed a shield shape area under the windscreen that was certain to have had something there before. Looking at some photos online and indeed there is a red ducati emblem there. I called and complained to the dealership that they forgot to put it on. they insisted they had and I didn't really believe them. But, they sent a new one.

The new one had a plastic film that I removed; revealing a thin foam membrane with adhesive. I put it on. The next day i was riding and saw the reflection as this emblem came off. Luckily it got stuck in a recessed area so i didn't lose it. Back at home a drop of epoxy seemed to fix the problem.

If you take the windscreen off for anything....you may wish to check this little guy out. It seems to me that the stock adhesive is mediocre at best. Worth looking into. Probably only $10 or so to replace so maybe not worth messing with unless you were taking the windscreen off for cleaning anyway, but sure can be a pain.

Something wrong with this story. The bike comes from the factory with the emblem installed.

Would be interested in seeing a pic of the emblem they sent you?

Same emblem is used on some Multis. Dealer price is $20.28.
Mirrors

To the guys whom already own the SS, can you respond with your thoughts on the mirrors.
I am actually scared s**tless because mine are nuts. If a vehicle behind me doesn't have DRL's then I will never know they are there. It's really worrying because I live in a fairly large city and before getting out onto the open roads I have significant lane changing required. Up to 2000 rpm the problem is negligible, however from there on it gets exponentially worse. The faster I ride the worse they get. :frown2:
Some guys have written that theirs improved with mileage but mine is heading the opposite direction.

Honestly, the mirrors are crap with all of the vibration going on up front. You can also see the vibration on the windscreen when you're at speed. I had an LE on a motor pull up behind me on a canyon run the other day and couldn't make out who it was (no I didn't get pulled over). He followed me for awhile and then sped by me. Would have nice to know. My one major complaint with this bike.
What does all this talk about the mirrors have to do with a missing Ducati emblem.

I agree. This is out of place. Mixing topics that deviates from the post topic is misleading.

Here is the very pic i used to complain to the salesman that they owed me something (windscreen removed) and then one, through the windscreen of the one I epoxied in place.

P.s. can anyone tell me how to embed photos? This topic and these pics aren't worth the extra effort of having to click on a thumbnail :)

Well, that is the correct emblem. I was concerned that they might have supplied you with a non-stock one.

My suspicion was because I know that they come from the factory with that emblem in place. It is not a dealer installed item.......normally. It might have come loose during the PDI and the dealer reattached it, which might be why they insisted that they had done so. The fact that it came off after you got the bike leads me to believe that the either the mating surface or the adhesive had been compromised at the factory. You have fixed it and all is well that ends well. :smile2:

I was thinking the same, what does all this emblem talk have to do with mirros. Really, how much conversation could take place around glue and an emblem. Must be a glitch in the forum because the header of my mirror topic does actually state Mirrors and was not blank.
So go fix your emblems with some pliobond glue from the hardware shop and lets discuss something more inspiring. >:)
