Hey all. It seems sometimes my exhaust is louder than other times. I’m not sure if it really effects the performance but when it’s more throaty it seems a little faster. Brand new 2019 with less than 2000 miles. On another site (which wasn’t a Supersport site) a guy said it may be a a valve on the exhaust controlled by the ECU. Anyone deal with this? Suggestions? Thanks!

That would be the exhaust valve.

The servo opens and closes it per programming.

They do make servo eliminators, There is a mixed bag of results.

AG- I've not noticed it but I think it's normal. The exhaust flapper valve is either there to reduce noise at certain rpms or to provide back pressure for more torque or both (or neither?). Anyway, several have posted here that it does affect the sound level. I like the burble and spit sound but I wear earplugs when I ride.

Is this normal for the bike?
I am aware of mine doing its thing, but hardly notice it. Yes, it is normal.

There is a servo at the front bottom of the motor, and a cable leading back on the right side of the bike to a flap valve in the exhaust. You can hear the change at about 3,000 RPM.

Some people have experienced issues with it, my cable was replaced under warranty. It's probably the single biggest complaint that generates the check engine light. If that is the cause of the warning you can still ride the bike.

You can't just disconnect the servo, that will throw an error. I believe some have created a dummy load on the attenuator so the servo thinks it's still connected or you can get proprietary servo healers that fool the electrics.

Don't worry about it unless you don't like the change in exhaust note or it's broken...

Thanks Low. Of course I like it when it’s a little bit louder. I just didn’t know if it’s suppose to come and go.

Well, yesterday after letting it warm up and leaving work, I gunned it. The sound is back! Love it. Hopefully that valve will stay open. 👍👍
