Key recess tank protector

Hey gang -
Has anyone found - or even considered a protector, rubber or whatever to go in the recess / cutout around the key ignition area? 300 MI in and I am already noticing that my keys are rattling and scratching that area.

It is for that reason that I usually have only one key, which is in the ignition, plus a soft fabric or rubber fob, so no scratching. Two of my bikes have a separate ignition and fuel tank key (old bikes, replaced caps) and what I do there is cut a length of rubber fuel hose and put that over the sharp part of the fuel cap key so that when the ignition key is in, the fuel cap key can't scratch anything.

If you go with that strategy, there is no need for any protection whatsoever!

Ditto except I have disc lock key as my 2nd key.

I have a leather pouch on the ring that hides a couple of keys and protects from scratching

I always keep the key separate just for this reason, but when I picked up the bike, the dealer gave me a beautiful rubber keychain of a xdiavel tank. Too beautiful not to use it.

I have the key of starting up on a silicone ring. No possible scratches. And on principle, I never attach the keys of anti-theft devices with that of the starting up or other keys. All my keys are grouped by utility (access garage, anti-theft devices, house). That reduces the risk of losing everything all at once.
I used 3M paintwork protection film on the tank above the seat and now I see surface marks appearing on the tank by the ignition. It's the zip tags on my sleeves that are doing it when I turn on the ignition. Going to fit a small area of paint film there too. It's all but invisible.

I like this idea. I will look into it. I only have single house key and a work desk lock key and a Tile on mine, but it's enough to cause an annoyance
Thanks!

Yes, ignition key attached to rubber fob only. No worries...
