Lock recommendations?

5326 Views 17 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  BruNo
I have been using a Abus lock on my last two bikes stored under my seat when not in use.
There are no room for this lock under the SS seat.
Any recommendation on locks that I can use that is possible to store on bike when not in use?

There's so little room you'd need a bag of some sort for anything bigger than a toothbrush.
I've searched and I'm still searching for a system to hold the lock, maybe on the passenger pegs. I've been in few shops, no success for now... That's a problem in a town like Paris where bikes are disapearing very often.
There's just enough place for a small disc-blocking lock under the seat, in place of the tool set.
Sadly unless you can lock it to something its easy to lift into a van and away it goes.
That and the introduction of battery angle grinders.

Ok, found a disclock that actually has room under the seat. Even with a memory cord.
I know the best thing is to have a lock that makes it possible to lock it to something, but at least its more difficult to steal mine from now on :)

No way I am parking this beauty in Oslo city without locking it!

Nice spot for the lock. Can you use the USB with that in place?
I'm also using 2 small ABUS locks :

The 'detecto' has an alarm embedded, a little bit expensive, but efficient.
They fit under the saddle, but I'm not doing it, as they are small, I can keep them in your tank bag.
You can use the place of the toolbox under the saddle to put one of them. It fits exactly for the Quick 37.

No, but it also fits on the other side so no problem :)
I also have a lock under the seat...Xena

So you bought the 14mm? I thought the 10mm would be the correct fit, or does it matter?

It doesnt matter, they both fit, as per the Xena site

They are physically the same size, except for the piston.
I was also looking at the xena lock but didn't think it would fit under the seat. I'm going to get one now. Thanks!

Not sure if it fits under the seat...it fits on the brake rotor.

I will try this later after work and let you know if you can put it under there.

Cool. I appreciate it!
I had a Kryptonite Keeper 5-S2 Disc Lock from my Aprilia Mana days and based on the discussion here, was able to fit under the seat in front of the USB port. It's in the case and has the orange disk lock reminder attached. So this is just another option.
I was thinking about the disk lock reminder, but i found out that the alarm of my disk lock simply ring when I start the bike so no chance to forget it ^^

Yep, that's the main advantage of these locks with incorporated alarm... less chance to forget it.
I've completely broken the front mudguard of my previous bike because of this...
