Hi,
I'm Patrick, 36 years old, from Hesse, Germany. I have recently bought a new (to me) '21 Supersport 950 which should be delivered to me today (will add pictures of the arrival later).
Totally stocked for this bike!
My motorcylce history:
From 2004 to 2006 I had a '99 Kawi ZX7-R Ninja, which left me with a major engine damage. Having not enough money for an new engine or bike and with my daughter being born end of 2006, I had no bike.
From time to time I rented or borrowed some, until I crashed with my father's VZ800 Maurauder in 2011. The car in front emergency-stopped, I overbraked the front wheel and slid under that car, with the bike breaking my left leg.
Then, 10 years later the itch came back, stronger than ever. So I decided to step up again and got myself a '09 Kawi Z750, which I bought in February last year after that 10 year motorclycle hiatus.
Turned out, I'm not happy with the Z750 - ergonomics don't fit, and it seems I'm not into screamin' inline-4's anymore. So I test rode some other bikes, like the '21 MT-09, a '18 XSR900, a '17 XSR700, a '20 Kawi Ninja 650, the '21 Duc Monster+ and the Aprilia Tuono 660. And, in September last year, I rode a '18 white Ducati Supersport (939) S.
Guess which bike was stuck in my head the whole winter?
I kept an eye on about 30 second-hand ones all over Germany since December and in late February an offer I couldn't refuse came up:
A 2021 Supersport 950 (non-S though) with the touring pack and some other goodies which was around 18500 USD or € 16800 new, going on sale with 9500 km (or 5900 miles) and a four year extended full warranty for € 12500 (or 13800 USD).
A really good price and since there are only about 2-3 second hand 950's on sale in Germany at the moment, I couldn't resist. I talked to the dealer and got free shipping (bike was around 250 miles from me) and a fresh full service at Ducati from him.
But he wouldn't go down with the price, sadly.
I still think I got myself a really good deal, seeing that the 939 models with up to double the mileage are still selling around 10.500 - 13.500 €, depending on S or non S, but mostly without the touring package.
I'm looking forward to chat with you about our bikes, and I'm sure many questions will come up over the next couple of weeks...
