@Invincible I don’t recall anyone specifically mentioning a 2-3 issue… but most comments about DQS issues were general in nature. Does this happen when you shift quickly manually, too?

With regards to the leak, have you checked if the mating surface of the cap is clean and able to seal properly?

@Ed K When I shift manually, the problem does not occur. Only with the QS, and only from 2 to 3.
Did I mention that it makes me look like a complete tool?! Bc the bog down is quite violent, when the bike throws me into 2nd gear again...

I've checked the cap and it looks fine to me. Will try to check again and maybe take a picture after work. For what it's worth, it wasn't only a few drops than ran over the tank to the ignition lock. In total, I think I lost 2-3 shots of fuel over 8 or 9 braking attempts. Maybe more, since it took a while until I really noticed what's going on.

@Invincible If you haven’t already tried, sometimes cleaning and lubing DQS can help…

With the cap, sometimes deposits can harden the rubber, or just age can cause it to harden. It might take a bit of manual rubbing effort make the gasket surface just a bit more pliable to seal perfectly.

I guess I will check the cap again and, if there is nothing to be found, I'll take her to the dealership. I still have 3 years of warranty, so they shall worry about it.

Been a while since I posted here. Not much has changed tho'.
I'm really looking forward to that new engine mapping from Deussen Engines (German Ducati Tuner & specialist).
I just sent them my original map yesterday and I got the new one via email today, but thanks to the soddy weather, it'll be a few days until I can test it. Also, I want to make a back to back test - ride it with the old map, flash the ECU and then try the new map to see where it has been improved.

New features from the map are:
  • I can switch ti a 14T sprocket without the Euro 5 ECU throwing a hissy fit
  • Exhaust flap will be closed in second gear from 20 to 35 kph and in third from 30 to 60 kph. I will finally be able to not annoy people living on thoroughfares.
  • According to Daniel Deussen, overall power won't change that much, maybe 3-4 hp at the top end, but some dents in the power curve will be straightened out a bit.
  • Driveability at constant speeds at lower rpm should improve greatly.
I also got my new set of tires ready (Metzeler Roadtec 01 Sport Edition) which will probably be mounted end of April when the bike checks in for the 2-year service.

Hi Patrick,

very very interesting stuff you´re about to go for. The Remap seem to solve alotta shortcomings of the 950. I beg you to share your expierences and thougts with the back to back testing!🤗
I will definitely go a similar route after the warranty period!

BTW: How do you extract and apply mappings on the Bike?

Many thanks and best regards
Stefan

My standard warranty only lasts another week. I still got 2 years Ducati Red warranty to go, but as long they don't know about the mapping... :censored: I will still make use of the warranty when something breaks as long it isn't something engine related which might lead them to take a closer look at the ECU data.

You get a MyGenius Flasher from Deussen Engines, which allows you to swap the maps. You will need to do that before the bike goes in for a service, because when they apply a factory update over your custom map, your custom map is gone for good.

Today I could finally wake her up and drag her under the shower (wash box).
Now she's clean ans pretty again.

After that I loaded the new engine tune. So far I'm pretty satisfied.
As planned the exhaust flap is now closed in 2nd and 3rd gear between 20 and 60 kph.
And the engine feels a good bit smoother. 3rd gear in a 30kph (19 mph) zone - no problem.
Strolling along at 60 kph (38 mph) in 6th gear? Yes Sir! As you wish!
Before the tune such things where answered with the bike picking at the chain.

It feels just much more refined now.

Can the tuner pretty much do anything that is (reasonably) requested?
Idk, what's on your mind?
He can't change the driving modes or the engine brake. But fuel map etc. can be adjusted to your liking.

@Invincible Thanks...not actually for me, as I’m fine with the SFV2 throttle responsiveness. It was a more general question that I thought might be helpful to our Members if they might be interested.

I know it's not for your bike (even though he could easily do yours as well ;) ) but I wanted to know if you have any specific settings on your mind.

@Invincible Tuning for a de-catted SuperSport. Some folks have PM’d me about tuning for custom de-catted exhausts, and it appeared the tech you’ve been working with was quite capable, and might be able to help.

Could be a little challenging for him though, trying to tune without the bike. But if the exhaust is basically de-catted, straight through exhaust, any thoughts if s/he could help?

Probably. I'm pretty sure he also has contacts in the US, so maybe he could so some remote tuning on a Dyno located in the US.
I do know for a fact that he has customers from all over the world though. I think tuning for a de-catted bike should well within his capabilities.
You can also ask Daniel yourself. He does speak English
