Wondering how difficult it'll be for those of us who want to do their own oil change? I haven't ever owned a full faired bike so I'm not really sure what I'd be getting into if I bought one.
Oh, very nice! I see now that the oil filter is pretty visible there. I'll use the dealer for first and other major services but I'd prefer to do my own oil changes in between.
It's used on other Ducati models. Having been in the vehicle industry for forty years I would always recommend buying OEM filters. Not all filters are the same.
T6 is not as readily available as Mobil 1...at least not in my area. I can run down to the local Wally World and grab some...can't do that with T6, unless something has changed in the last few months.
I find it at my local wally world and Home Depot and any auto parts store. Walmart even used to sell it in a 5 gal bucket. I don't think they do that anymore, though. Last time I looked, HD had the cheapest price, which was around $22.
My dealer sells Ducati as well as hi flo filters. I have no problem using hi flo or k&n, especially since they are easier to find online. My Evo has over 20k miles and no engine issues.
The company I worked for had a series of aftermarket (but famous name) oil and air filters along with our own sectioned and mounted on boards so that customers could see how each was made and what they contained along with technical data for theirs and ours. Our technical specifications for our filters ran to dozens of pages.
The difference was just amazing.
Whilst BMW, Mercedes etc etc don't make their own filters what they have made is made by quality approved suppliers to their specifications.
I can assure you that a cheap filter is just that, they bring the price down by not having the internal materials that OEM ones have. a smaller filter media area is a usual short cut.
Non OEM aren't necessarily all bad, but they aren't as good. Me? I'll use super unleaded, best oils and filters and what ever else is high quality.
