Does anyone know how many Supersports (standard and S) were made? Thx in advance. I did some web search and also cross this entire forum but not coming up with this figure. Is it in the thousands?

Ideally a poll can be created with 100 increments. No one wants to dish out their number so increments should do. Mine is between 550 to 600

I'd like to know whether Ducati considers the new SS a sales "success". I hope so.

I think the dealers do. They couldn't keep them in stock for more than a week around here.

Yeah this is what I'm trying to understand too. I guess I should've asked how many are sold divided # produced or whatever metric is used. I'd like to understand this as a means to compel vendors to make aftermarket parts.

Hi, when you can, can you link your poll here please? I'd like to participate/ see it. I did a forum wide search on polls here and based on respondents to two polls, which Supersport did you buy and age of Supersport owners, the number of owners is minimally 100, with total conjecture is that only 200-500 worldwide? Even with 1000, that is a small market (?). I'd guess parts which are compatible for the Hypermotard would be more of an appetizing business strategy.
That was my poll and my initial goal was to get an idea who bought what as far as models and color, with a secondary goal of how many total we had...at least in this forum. The poll kept getting buried and I didn't want to keep bumping it to keep it relevant, so I gave up. We should have made it a sticky. It still wouldn't have answered this as a worldwide figure, though, but would have been interesting.

Is that a good number? I'd like to know how that compares to theHypermotard or the 959 Panigale Something to compare it to at least

Where are you guys getting your data?
Mine is between 2100-2200 (last 4 of the VIN right?)
Remember that there are also 2 plants, indicated by the "B" or "T" (Italian/Thai respectively) in your VIN before the 6 digit sequential number.

Mine is between 270-275 from the Italian Factory

All SS are built in Italy. I will be very shocked if you find a T in the vin. The retro bikes such as the scramblers are built in Thailand.

There is also a plant in Brazil (for tax reasons) but I'm not sure if it's an assembly plant only. Also don't know if any supersports are built or assembled there.

My statistics are from italian Transport Ministry and every month are published on their own site and on most important bike magazines

Wow. I didn't realize that the Brazilians were a large enough market that it was more cost effective for them to have their own manufacturing plant. :surprise: Interesting.
Bikes imported into Brazil attract 100% tax/duty.
Ducati has 5% of the market, BMW 20% according to Ducati rep there.
