RAM Mount? Which Model? Where mounted?

11811 Views 26 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  RODDERS_SS937
The title says it all. Looking to get a RAM mount, and can't make heads or tails of what mount type works, and where to put it. What are y'all using, and where are you mounting it? Already have had some input, but need more input. Pics of your mount rig would be greatly appreciated.

As a bonus - tell me about how you are using the charger for phones / devices while riding.
Thanks!

There's a thread on this with pictures of various options.
I spent time searching for one (before I posted) but didn't find anything. Chalk it up to impatience and bad search skills
Thanks!
Same here for on both my SS and Scrambler, for iPhone (and Garmin), except I use this secure clip to hold the phone. Garmin uses same style, but different clip, of course. (Didn't buy it though this link, just the quickest place to find a pic)

Also, have USB cables to connect to under seat port as needed to power iPhone and Garmin, as needed.
I use a fitted plate attached to the key guard with a GoPro mount on which means I can swap from phone to camera etc

Rhino how do the videos turn out to be with the key guard mount?
I've heard from one person the videos vibrate a lot with the key guard mount cuz it's not as stable...but maybe he just didn't secure it enough haha

Mine has no vibration....now. I made my own mount. the one I have now is attempt 3 the 1st was just get the fit right and did vibrate, the second I used a Perspex and that had too much Buzz. The 3rd and final is spot on. I used a laminated aluminium plate Perfect. also the gopro mount must be short or you get vibration there. On my side fairing mount I have attached some high density closed cell rubber with Velcro behind the fairing to stop any movement or vibration, that works well too.
im also using the Ram ball mount that mounts to the inside end of the handler bar. also had to add a short arm and universal x-grip cell phone holder.

very happy with this setup, only complaint is that there is a little rotational play after the phone is mounted. so the phone itself can rotate a little left or right, meaning that it might not say perfectly horizontal. phenomenal other than that small issue.

linke to handlebar ball mount

The adjustable bracket is early Ducati Multistrada DVT, still available but you have to buy most of the individual parts, items 1,2 and 3 not needed. The interface bracket between the Ducati bits and the Sat nav is home made, as is the mounting bracket to the bike. Longer bolts and stainless spacers and washers from the internet.
I've posted this before but it's not easily found.
I didn't want a 'bodge' job on such a well engineered bike. Deserves better I thought.

It's been on for a couple of thousand miles now, it doesn't block any of the dash, switches etc and the adjustable feature means it's easy to read and no glare. I always have my sat nav on as it has all the speed cameras on it with a nice clear warning on approach.

Very nice work.

Where is the power sourced from?

I bought the Aella mount for my zumo and wired it too the cable I believe is for heated grips- works perfectly. It attaches to the bolts but the key at front of tank. Also bought the GoPro plate mentioned below but still awaiting delivery.
