Rear-most, top of crankcase, under heat shield... take a look.

My bike has a small paint chip from the manufacturing process.

I've looked at many SS bikes on the show room floor, and maybe 60% of the them had the same.

What about you guys?

Two small green dots, one on each crankcase half, shaped more like slots that almost, but don't quite align. Possibly something to do with match machining/grinding the two halves? Who knows?
Interesting, green dots! I don't have those.

Anyone else?

I have it as well. See attached. First pic is a bit out to show location. Second pic is zoomed in a little more. It's tough to get a pic of it. In the second pic, it's below and left of the green dots.

Yes! That's it! Those are chipped paint marks done at the factory. I have them on both sides and mine my be a bit bigger. Almost like a machine was gripping it there, or something on the assembly line. (But I don't have the green dots.)

My dealer has kindly offered to have it professionally touched up. On the one hand, sounds good, as it won't then have risk of corrosion. On the other hand, if not done properly could be a risk.

That's a good deal for you. Doubt my dealer would even entertain this...probably would laugh at me. No worries on it rusting, though, as it's a cast aluminum piece. It won't rust.
Not rust, but potentially small risk of corrosion.

That could only happen if i comes in contact with an acid, which will corrode a bunch of other stuff around it as well. Touch up should be good

Ill have to check mine. Its weird though, for all bikes to have that. Wouldnt expect anyt surface gripping after coating.
Maybe 60% of bikes in my sample that I looked at had this...not every one. Kinda like the slight fairing gap on one side...not all, but many have...
It's on the opposite side, too. It's not just missing the paint, it's actually a divet in the metal. Its symmetrical, so it's not random, but definitely something occurring during assembly.
Confirmed that i have it too.

We've got to nickname these things. How 'bout "the dimples". I've got the dimples. You guys got the dimples. Anybody else have some dimples?
Yes, divet in the metal. Dimples on both sides...

Thinking it might have been some kind of metal clamp, or metal protrusion from a clamp, used to steady the bike during assembly. Surprised it doesn't have a sufficient rubber cushion.
Some pics would be nice.
I did already. Post #5.
