Revisiting hydraulic clutch replacements

As I posted in my other thread on the damper, getting a loaner with a hydro clutch reminded me how much I miss that. The cable clutch on SS works just fine, but mine seems to grab at random times - like some part of the cable is just not right in the routing. Checked and rechecked, but nope - all seems as should be. Lubed. Nope. Only helps for about one ride.

The grabbing in the cable doesn't affect shifting or clutch actuation, but it does make me worry that something is slowly eroding inside the sheath. And as we all know, losing a clutch cable on a ride is not at all fun.

So - have any of you taken this up beyond the few early adopters? Does anyone have a good writeup on doing this with Monster 1200 parts versus doing the Ducabike route? I love me some Ducabike, but ouch expensive.

Thanks tons in advance!

Its probably just the difference of clutch style or something but god the hydraulic clutch on my 1098 is so taxing on my hand and miserable to operate after 30 - 45 miles. How many miles do you have on your bike? maybe you could try replacing the cable. It would be a **** of a lot cheaper than going the hydro clutch route. You could also try pulling the cable and seeing if ye old remove reinstall helps. ..

My clutch lever is buttery smooth across the pull range. I'd look at replacing the cable.

Ducabike sells a hydraulic clutch kit, includes a Brembo master, Ducabile slave, pushrod, sprocket cover, plug, etc.

Alternatively you can use all the parts off a Monster 1200. If you do this, I'd suggest the Oberon slave over the OEM. Get a parts diagram and start scouring ebay, you'll still need to source the clutch cover plug, or also include a clutch cover from the Monster 1200.

I dream of a dry clutch conversion, but I also dream of a 1200 conversion. Rumor has it that Ducati is going back to hydraulic clutches across the model range to consolidate parts bins. We'll see what 2020 holds, hopefully a 1200 with a hydraulic clutch.

I don't miss the hydraulic clutch so much because my sss has a blipper. It's awesome.

But I'm also thinking about a renovation. The hydraulic clutch of the hyper 950sp should fit as the same engine as the Supersport.

The new models in 2021 will also have a hydraulic clutch again. The head of technology ducati germany told me that.
