Took the seat off and found about 4 straps on the base of the seat that do not seem to gave a function, anyone know what they are for?

They are anchor points for a tie down or bunjee net.
Can be used with any Kriega bags.

They're there to tie your mate down with so that she doesn't fly off the back under hard acceleration!

Thanks for the tip on the Kriega bags! This might be just what I was looking for.

What are your opinions on them? Size recommendations?
The good part of the Kriega bags that you can combine them (attach one to another). I use US30. But if it's not enough I can add us20 to it

I also just researched the Kriega bags after your post and have decided that I need a US-20.
The next time that you are in France be sure to drop in if you should visit the Dordogne.

Looks like our bike is used on the us-30 page!

Do you need to buy anything extra to attach these?

I recently spent several mind-numbing hours looking at the Kriega bags. Because I largely purchased the SS for commuting and I think the US-20 and 30 detract from the bike's looks, I went with the Kriega messenger bag. It has proven to be superb. Great quality (like all Kriega stuff), large enough for my purposes, comfortable, and doesn't detract from the beauty of the SS.

Good luck.
Us 30 and us 10 I have. Put the bags not in the length but reverse. You don't need other stuff to attach them and it works superb. Us 30 for me is big enough for one week travel. Goes in a lot! Looks good too.

This kit you have linked is a pretty neat setup, never heard of the brand so cheers for that. Wondering if anyone with the akra race system feels this could be the right solution for a weekender.
Regarding the straps under the seat.
It was designed to support a lock (a U lock), if you look at the seat, you'll see how it could fit.
I had it on my ST3, this lock is very thin & strong enough... for a bicycle... well... not sure.
@Addesmo : Where did you buy your Kriega bags ? I can't find a dealer in France...
These bags seems to be perfect for long trips on the SS.
Thanks
edit : forget it, I found the Intl page...

Thanks for the pic, I have been wondering if the straps come from under neath the seat. I was hoping the bungee hooks would not need to be hooked underneath. Pleased they come out.
