Track Days 2025

I signed up for several days at VIR out my way (Black Friday special, saved like $400). Will be doing the North course twice and the Full course once. The organization only has the full course one time the whole year! While I miss the West coast, I live 3 hours from 3 tracks and then 4.5 from another. It's not too bad!

Probably the main thing that will keep me off slicks is warmers. I really don't feel like buying a generator and dealing with all that, or hoping for a hookup at the track. If a better skilled rider can kick my ass on the same bike with DOT legal track day tires then I think I'm fine to not move on to slicks, haha.

Metzeler TD Slicks don't require tire warmers, we used them all of last year.

Interesting! And they are a pretty good price, too!

And I thought I was using up tires going through one rear on a Speed Triple 1200 in 6 track days, haha. Guess I'm not getting that traction control working enough coming out of turns...

3/29 is my first track weekend at Carolina Motorsports Park. First time I've been there. Probably only time this year. Driving 7 hours one way is not my best idea...

This was May 2025 at NCBike in North Carolina. My first track day with the Ninja ZX-4RR I picked up for a small CC bike to have fun with on track. It's still on the OE GPR-300 tires but with an ECU tune and I put on braided lines. Also, the first time I've been able to get a knee down because this thing is MUCH lower to the pavement than my S3, lol. Makes me feel like I'm going fast!

Finally felt like my riding has gotten good enough to be worth buying the photos from the track photographer.

Also, really liking these RST gloves, especially for the price! I see you've got them too @Swamper

@Fitz Nice! I finally replaced the OEM tires. I'm sure they could go faster than I am able but I just didn't feel confident in their grip level. I was still running them all the way to the edge of the tire.

I put on a Metzler Racetec RR K3 on the rear and a M9RR on the front because I couldn't find a Racetec front anywhere in stock in the USA. Couldn't tell a difference and I had much more confidence. The taller profiles are nice as I'm not getting all the way to the edge of the tire yet.
