Steering Damper Options?

It seems like Ohlins offers generic kits for most of the newer bikes. I wont be doing any track days with my SS, but this would be nice to have.

If anyone finds any updated info on the option of a Steering Damper please post it here.

Right at the beginning Ducati did say they would offer an Ohlins steering damper for this bike. I suppose it takes them a while to get everything sorted.

Every one mentioned how great and steady the steering was in their reviews. It may be that it doesn't need one? Although its nice to have.

OK guys, I have never done a track day. What does the steering damper do for the bike? Why is it needed for a track day?

Thanks for the info!

Riders tend to push their machines much harder on-track than they do on the street. The tracks often have dips and rises and the bikes tend to get light in the front end when they go over a rise area. When that happens under full throttle the bars can shake, which leads to a momentary loss of control. A steering damper attenuates the possible bar shake by introducing a dampening effect, maintaining rider control.
You'll learn things about your bike in a track day situation you would never find out on the street. I installed a damper on my 900SS when I decided to do track days.
